Bad Roommates

bad-roommate
Over the last four years, I've had my fair share of bad roommates..

So, I'm going to tell you about the bad roommates I've had every year since I've been in college. From Freshman - Junior year. Enjoy!

Freshman Year: I moved into a traditional dorm room that had two beds, two closets, and two desks. We also shared a bathroom with everyone on my hall (this is a story to be told another time). We're going to call her Laura (names will be changed). So Laura and I got along for maybe the first month, I mean I even liked her. My only problem with her at first was that she was a little clingy and always asking when I was coming back to the dorm or where I was. But, then she stopped going to class and slept all day/stayed up all night. I think that's where all of the problems started. So, my first semester, I was a music major and I had a lot of early classes. Because of that, I would go to bed at maybe 11-12 and of course, she wouldn't. Which is fine, but she would turn the lights on, sing, talk on the phone, and watch movies. None of these things would have been a problem, but she was rude about it and wouldn't ever go to sleep. I remember one night, I woke up to her talking about me on the phone with her boyfriend while sitting at my desk and staring at me. Sometimes in the morning, she would get mad at me (if she woke up) because I was getting ready for class and making a little bit of noise. I remember one morning, she actually got up and got ready to do stuff (out of the ordinary for her). She came up to me and said "Just because you wear makeup doesn't mean you're cute" then tried taking it back. So other than that, she was nasty. She hardly ever showered, brushed her teeth, or cleaned anything up. She had a ton of clothes that were everywhere, her hair was all over the place, and she had moldy dishes sitting on her desk for a month at a time. I think I'll end there on this one!

Sophomore Year: I moved into an apartment with two of my friends, who I still live with, and we were all alone the first few days. We had all been wondering what the fourth roommate would be like and had no idea. We even had inside jokes about it before and after he came. About four days after we moved in, our fourth roommate finally came while my bestfriend, Victoria and I were at McDonalds for a flute meeting during band camp (yep, I was in marching band.). So while we're eating lunch, my roommate Jake is at the apartment with the new roommate. So that night, we're all coming back from our long day at band camp (I know what you're thinking, and hush. lol) and we walk in to this guy with all of his friends sitting on the couch smoking weed. Literally within the 5 hours he's been there. Like that's cool, but you could warn us next time or maybe not make that your first impression of you. We were also really grumpy because of band but that's another story. After that he didn't spend much time at the apartment and only came back at night. He wasn't the worst roommate I've had, but he did some things that annoyed everyone. About halfway through the second semester, he got a pitbull puppy. My apartment doesn't allow pets. So, therefore, this dog had to be kept hidden. He barked all day and night, peed everyone, pooped everywhere and was just so annoying. My apartment was stinky. Even my roommate got annoyed with his own dog that he wouldn't sleep in his room because the dog would bark all night long and tear him up. He would be sleeping in the living room and yelling at the dog to shut up. Even though he did these things, he wasn't a bad roommate and was pretty cool. But moving on..

Junior Year: Alright! This one is going to be the most fun because this is more recent and I'm still heated about it. So, I was gone most of the summer and I came back maybe a day or two after he moved in. When I come back, I walk in and there is a HUGE trash bag and boxes laying the middle of the hallway and in front of my door. Firstly, rude and second, take that out to the dumpster. So he's not there and he doesn't come back until the day before school starts. I then learn that he is 26 years old, alright cool? So, I meet him, and all he does is sit there and ask about this television show. He goes on and on about the characters and asks who everyone is. I've never seen the show before so I had no idea. So, this is minor stuff, but it just all adds up to make him such an annoying person. Victoria, my best friend and roommate, and I were hanging out on our balcony and he came out there to talk with us. That's fine. . But, then he starts saying "If a woman has a lot of guy friends, then she's a whore." So he's sexist? Alright, starting to hate him. Then more little things start happening and adding up. He stands while he eats, he smacks his food, and he's just very awkward. So after two weeks of him living in my apartment, he drops out of school. Cool, bro. You know, I can handle all of this. But then he brings his "girlfriend" down and she starts trying to control everything. She's buying him groceries and whatever else and she's washing his clothes and dishes. She also then started turning the air on which causes us to have overages which we can't afford, but when we asked her to stop, she'd continue to do it anyways. She didn't live here, why is she touching our stuff!? This guy didn't have a job, didn't go to school, and stayed in his room all day until she came to see him on the weekends. One weekend, she went up to my roommate, Jake, and told him that we should have a game night and that we should take care of the 26 year old guy! Take care of him!? Are you kidding me!? He's 26 years old and I don't have time to be playing parent. One night, we had a few friends over and were watching TV or a movie, while talking during commercials. He comes out of his room and tells us to be quiet and I told him no. Firstly, it's 9 pm and a Friday night. Second, if you can't handle noise while living in college apartments, you need to move. Sorry. Finally, he moves out at the end of January. But, then I notice he took all of my pots and pans. Turns out she packed all of my stuff in the kitchen thinking it was his even though the only dishes he brought was a bowl and plate. I texted him and then she ended up texting me. We got into a huge fight where she said all of my stuff was actually his. Sorry for my language, but bitch I paid for that shit and that's not his. So I made her drive two hours to bring me my stuff back and then I was done with them forever.

Out of all of these people, the only person I still sometimes talk to is the Sophomore year roommate. I'm not even friends on Facebook with the other two. Good riddance. I did not like them at all.

If you have any bad roommate stories, feel free to leave them in the comments. I would love to hear your stories.

Disclaimer: I don't hate any of these people, these are just my experiences with roommates. Also, I didn't include my senior year because I'm still living with those roommates and I still love them. :)
