Series: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children #2

Publication Date: January 1, 2014

YA Fantasy/Dark Fantasy

"Goodreads Description: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled readers and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it “an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters.”

This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine’s island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other unexpected surprises.

Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly mesmerizing) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight readers of all ages."
I will just say it. I love this series and I think I said that in the first review also, but whatever. So, it took me awhile to read this book; not because it was bad, but because I'm in school and it's hard to make time for things other than school. BUT, I finally finished it and it was lovely.

I loved the tales and the adventure to save Miss. Peregrine. It was exciting to be on that journey with them. I caught myself saying "NO!" quite a bit and hoping for them to run faster or hide better or find someone to help them.

However, I do have a few complaints on this one. I understand the point of the story is for Jacob to stay and help them out. But, I hate his and Emma's relationship. He claims he loves her, or so he thinks, and it's just really childish. I feel like Emma only likes or "loves" him because he is Abraham's grandson. I don't think she would have the feelings she does if it wasn't for him. I think she is using Jacob to replace the absence of Abraham. But that's only an opinion.

Another problem I had was I just wanted to read more tales. I'm hoping there will be a novella or something just based on the peculiar's tales, because those were so interesting. Maybe they'll be in the next book which comes out September 2015, if you didn't know!

Let me know if you liked this book or series and if you haven't read it, go read it and then tell me your thoughts! :)
